This role supports classified computing environments 100% onsite in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, supporting Mission Systems. The ISSO implements and enforces cybersecurity compliance directives, develops and sustains standard operating procedures from government documents (NISPOM, DFARS, DAAPM, JSIG, etc.), and manages technology tools across a broad IT skill set.
What YOU will do- Maintain system‑level information system compliance, including technical configuration analysis, change control facilitation, hardware/software management, audit and inspections, incident response, and troubleshooting.
- Manage the System Security Plan maintenance and change control per procedure.
- Ensure all users have requisite security clearances, authorizations, need‑to‑know status, and provide security training and guidance.
- Collect, review, document, and archive security event logs, reports, and files in accordance with the SSP; report anomalies and monitor user activity and system vulnerabilities.
- Track, account for, safeguard, and dispose of material assets associated with secure systems.
- Maintain technical competence and operational knowledge of system functions, security policies, technical safeguards, and operational security measures.
- Assess implications of work and recommend solution options.
- Typically requires a university degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree.
- U.S. citizenship required for security clearance eligibility.
- Active DoD Secret security clearance prior to day one.
- DoD 8570‑compliant industry certification at IAM Level I (Security+) or ability to obtain certification within 6 months.
- Desired certifications:
Security+, A+, Network+, CAP, CASP+, CISM, Cisco (CCNA), CISSP. - Knowledge/experience with NIST SP 800‑series RMF framework and guidelines.
- Knowledge/experience with STIGs, SCAP, Splunk or other hardening, vulnerability assessment, and SIEM tools.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and tackle new projects.
- Ability to work in a high‑energy, fast‑paced environment and adapt to changing needs.
- Highly self‑directed with strong drive to deliver results.
- Comfort with minimal daily supervision and balancing numerous priorities.
