GeneralJob Summary
This position supports guest services and serves as a trainer, supervising the learning experiences of students in all areas of the hotel at the Kirkwood Center for Hospitality Arts and the Kirkwood Center for Continuing Education.
ShiftsSome daytime shifts and mostly evening and weekend shifts. The position is tip eligible and requires a valid Iowa driver’s license.
Responsibilities- Welcome, greet, and assist guests with check‑in/check‑out processes.
- Provide friendly and efficient transportation of guests in hotel vehicles as needed.
- Escort guests, open doors, assist with luggage, and keep lobby spaces clean and welcoming.
- Maintain compliance with required training and driver qualifications.
- Serve as a trainer, supervising students’ learning experiences in all hotel operations.
- Assist physically challenged travelers and other guests with special needs.
- Deliver messages and run errands for guests.
- Explain the operation of room features such as locks, ventilation systems, and televisions.
- Keep sundry items clean, organized, and stocked for guest purchases.
- Maintain clean, safe, and fueled hotel vehicles.
- Maintain lobbies, public spaces, and entrance areas for a safe and welcoming guest experience.
- Represent the college in the most positive manner with prospective, former and current students, clients, suppliers and the community.
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette and communication skills.
- Maintain professional appearance and attitude.
- Show knowledge of the local area.
- Serve as a professional role model.
- Assist students in achieving course objectives and coach and nurture them in performance of skills.

High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be 18 years of age or older.
Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations Required- Valid driver’s license and ability to qualify for a Class D chauffeur’s license.
- Driving record will be verified initially and monitored on an ongoing basis.
- Post‑high‑school degree.
- Minimum of two years full‑time experience in a related hospitality setting or equivalent education and related work experience.
