Electrical Engineer – Industrial Automation
We are seeking an experienced Electrical or Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and improvement of custom industrial automation machinery. This role works closely with our fabrication shop, oversees complete machine systems, and contributes to both new designs and updates of existing equipment.
What You Will Do- Support safe operation, design, and debugging of automated machinery and process control systems.
- Review and interpret schematics, BOMs, and fabrication drawings.
- Create or update AutoCAD/Inventor/Solid Works drawings in 2D and 3D.
- Develop master plans, automation strategies, and software configurations.
- Troubleshoot complex system and machine issues across multiple machine sections.
- Write, modify, and debug PLC programs (B&R + exposure to AB/Siemens).
- Program MMIs and design related interface circuitry.
- Determine power/load requirements and system limitations.
- Design logic systems involving sequence, timing, and machine functions.
- Draft cable diagrams and wiring layouts.
- Establish and maintain engineering standards, documentation, and change control processes.
- Create validation processes, design verification steps, and quality testing procedures.
- Work with vendors to source components and recommend solutions.
- Collaborate daily with the Engineering Manager, machinists, and fabrication teams.
- BSEE or BSME with 5–7 years of experience in industrial automation.
- Strong understanding of schematics, BOMs, and fabrication workflows.
- Experience supporting or working within machine shops (welding, machining, sheet metal, etc.).
- Hands‑on experience with PLCs such as B&R (preferred), Allen‑Bradley, Siemens
, etc. - Proficiency in AutoCAD plus 3D CAD experience:
Autodesk Inventor (preferred) or Solid Works. - Knowledge of electrical codes and standards (UL/CSA/CE).
- Strong understanding of electromechanical system function and interaction.
- Ability to oversee entire machine systems—not just a single component.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication, analytical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Motivation to improve engineering processes and documentation.
