Our QA/QC Technicians perform on site surveying to ensure work is installed in accordance with contract document requirements. Technicians manage checklists for utilities, coordinate as‑builts, and manage issues to project completion. They use Agtek and Trimble Business Center software to meet quality assurance requirements.
The QA/QC Technician reports to the Director of Field Operations. Technicians typically work 40-55 hours per week. This position is project‑based and is not eligible for telework.
Job Requirements- Perform on‑site surveying to verify installation of underground utilities (water, sewer, stormwater, dry utilities) for compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Identify non‑conforming work, document deficiencies, and communicate with Estimator/Project Manager for corrective action.
- Maintain QA/QC documentation and checklists in accordance with project requirements.
- Collect and verify field data to update as‑built drawings and records.
- Participate in Building Information Modeling (BIM) meetings and communicate information to Estimator/Project Managers and field personnel.
- Import survey data into Trimble Business Center and create a surface with data points. Export and send to Estimator/Project Managers.
- Read and interpret grading plans and blueprints.
- Participate in on‑site safety meetings and follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other administrative duties and projects as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required. Associates or Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of surveying techniques.
- Experience with AutoCAD, AgTek, Bluebeam, and/or Trimble Business Center preferred.
- Able to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
- Must have outstanding customer service skills and professional demeanor.
- Must have effective time management skills and be able to work independently.
- Basic proficiency in Office 365 Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word, required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Must be able to travel overnight when necessary (typically less than 20%). Travel may increase as additional projects are awarded.
- Ability to independently lift and carry up to 50 lb.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend/squat, kneel, and twist on a frequent basis.
- Ability to climb ladders in and out of trenches and walk on uneven terrain.
- Ability to work outdoors 100% of the time, including in hot, cold, and wet conditions.
- This position may require some sedentary duty.
- Up to $70,000 per year, based on experience, plus a company vehicle.
