Senior CAD Operator – Cedar Rapids, IA

Permanent, full‑time position. Alternative work locations include ADM sites in Clinton, IA or Decatur, IL.

The CAD Operator III is a senior‑level CAD position that creates CAD deliverables and completes other duties as assigned under Project Manager & Plant direction, field data, and legacy information.

• Develop CAD deliverables—2D drawings, 3D models, PID & PFDs, and other CAD technology—ensuring completeness and accuracy.
• Read and interpret design drawings.
• Coordinate construction documents with client when requested.
• Review constructability and feasibility of construction details.
• Review shop drawings for constructability and compliance with design documents.
• Advise and coordinate with CAD Manager regarding best methods for project assignments.
• Utilize office standards and templates to develop final working drawings.
• Direct preparation of drawings and models by other team members when requested.
• Provide meaningful feedback to project teams and CAD Manager to improve CAD team performance.
• Generate material takeoffs from 2D and 3D CAD data.
• Field surveying and information gathering.
• Develop CAD standards.
• Maintain accurate and timely project file management (CAD files, Vendor files, Emails, etc.) and disseminate project information.
• Coordinate design work with other disciplines—mechanical, piping, electrical—through proper reference files.
• Maintain client communications as requested by Project Manager.
• Resolve complex modeling and layout issues with clients as requested.
• Develop strong working relationships with a high level of communication within the CAD team.

• Associates degree/diploma from a recognized technical school in AutoCAD, or equivalent professional work experience.
• 8+ years CAD experience in AutoCAD.
• Advanced knowledge in AutoCAD and preferably Advanced Steel or equivalent design applications.
• Advanced knowledge in 2D drafting and 3D modeling techniques.
