About the Role
The Common Platform Hardware (CPH) department in Military Avionics and Helicopters (MA&H) is hiring a Principal Electrical Engineer to design and sustain avionics hardware platforms for military aircraft, including integrated processing cabinets, displays, video processing modules, and control panels.
Key Responsibilities- Lead ruggedized mission computer and display level product development.
- Design circuit cards and sub‑level modules, and manage product qualification, transition, and sustainment.
- Lead integration activities for the KC‑46 VRCU and VPU, coordinating with project engineering, over‑design, and certification leads.
- Oversee qualification testing, root‑cause failures, and provide troubleshooting support during testing.
- Mentor and delegate tasks to less experienced engineers working on KC‑46 integration.
- Obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance after day one.
Must Have:
- Degree in STEM; minimum 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with minimum 5 years of experience.
- Experience in an electrical engineering role.
- Hands‑on troubleshooting experience.
Preferred:
- Hardware requirements development with systems and subsystems teams.
- Experience with lab equipment for integration testing of hardware designs.
- Collaboration and independent work skills.
- Schematic capture of digital/analog mixed‑signal circuits.
- PWB layout expertise.
- Interfacing with complex embedded devices.
- Digital logic device development (FPGA, ASIC).
- Formal qualification experience (DO‑160, MIL‑STD‑810/MIL‑STD‑461).
- Understanding of DTC+, DFM, and DFT.

Salary range: $107,500 – $204,500 USD.
Location:
Cedar Rapids, IA (Onsite). This position may be eligible for relocation.
