Principal Electrical Engineer - Integration Lead; Onsite

About the Role

The Common Platform Hardware (CPH) department in Military Avionics and Helicopters (MA&H) is hiring a Principal Electrical Engineer to design and sustain avionics hardware platforms for military aircraft, including integrated processing cabinets, displays, video processing modules, and control panels.

• Lead ruggedized mission computer and display level product development.
• Design circuit cards and sub‑level modules, and manage product qualification, transition, and sustainment.
• Lead integration activities for the KC‑46 VRCU and VPU, coordinating with project engineering, over‑design, and certification leads.
• Oversee qualification testing, root‑cause failures, and provide troubleshooting support during testing.
• Mentor and delegate tasks to less experienced engineers working on KC‑46 integration.
• Obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance after day one.

Must Have:

• Degree in STEM; minimum 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with minimum 5 years of experience.
• Experience in an electrical engineering role.
• Hands‑on troubleshooting experience.

Preferred:

• Hardware requirements development with systems and subsystems teams.
• Experience with lab equipment for integration testing of hardware designs.
• Collaboration and independent work skills.
• Schematic capture of digital/analog mixed‑signal circuits.
• PWB layout expertise.
• Interfacing with complex embedded devices.
• Digital logic device development (FPGA, ASIC).
• Formal qualification experience (DO‑160, MIL‑STD‑810/MIL‑STD‑461).
• Understanding of DTC+, DFM, and DFT.

Salary range: $107,500 – $204,500 USD.

Location:

Cedar Rapids, IA (Onsite). This position may be eligible for relocation.
