Maintenance Engineer - Cedar Rapids, IA

Focus on improving plant reliability by incorporating precision maintenance practices into equipment repairs and rebuilds. Includes training and coaching of maintenance technicians as well as developing standards and procedures.

• Perform duties in a safe manner, utilizing all safety equipment and completing all safety certification requirements. Help ensure the maintenance department meets goals for safety, health, environment, product quality, processing, costs and effectiveness.
• Provide technical expertise to the Maintenance Team to improve overall equipment efficiency/system performance and reliability.
• Contribute to the analysis of actual equipment design and assist in the performance of failure mode and effect analysis.
• Work with Engineering Teams to develop new approaches for maintaining new and existing equipment.
• Mentor and provide guidance to mechanics, engineers and contractors on Maintenance Strategies and Technologies.
• Write and update maintenance procedures and other pertinent documents.
• Provide plant engineering with technical support on reliability issues.
• Support execution of RCM process on existing equipment.
• Work with Planners to improve planning process and develop job plans through periodic job audits.
• Work with the Reliability Engineer to integrate PMs and predictive/diagnostic work into the Preventive Maintenance Program.
• Audit compliance for Food Safety and Quality Precision Maintenance into the Maintenance Program.
• May perform reasonably similar or related duties as assigned.

• Outstanding interpersonal skills and effective communication at all levels.
• Strong planning and prioritization abilities.
• Willing to work flexible hours to support continuous production (off hours, weekends, etc.).
• Familiarity with GMP, FDA, and OSHA regulations.
• Knowledge of Maintenance Management Systems.
• Willing to spend time in plant areas (walk long distances, stand, climb stairs and ladders, move through close spaces) to understand and audit the process.
• Align with plant GMP and personnel practice requirements.

• Primarily Monday – Friday, but available for operations outside of standard working hours.
• Work with various chemicals and caustics.
• Stand for long periods of time.

• Climb ladders/stairs.
• Walk long distances.
