Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Professional Development Coordinator to plan and implement New Bo Co ’s educator professional development programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background with K–12 students and educators, is excited about STEM education, and has strong organization skills. This role is both strategic and hands‑on, meeting the needs of K–12 educators through creative support and tactical execution.

They will deliver exceptional and diverse programs, including Computer Science Professional Development Week, virtual workshops, and customized training.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinating content for large education events (travel is occasionally necessary)
  • Collaborate with Event Coordinator on execution of large education events
  • Supporting teacher workshops such as checking in, answering program questions, and sharing additional resources that may be helpful.
  • Answering questions about our teacher facing programs
  • Work with other New Bo Co  staff to recruit teachers for workshops
  • Working with our facilitators to deliver high‑quality experiences such as agenda co‑creation and materials preparation.
  • Creating content for teachers such as curriculum modification or development
  • Develop strategies to improve and expand our programs
  • Help manage facilitator payment and stipend approvals
  • Help facilitate workshops as necessary
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field, or equivalent professional experience in education or instructional settings.
  • Experience in K–12 education.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience planning and implementing programming & or curriculum.
  • Willing and interested in staying up to date with emerging technologies in STEM education.
  • Deadline driven, organized, project management skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience with data collection.
  • Familiarity with Iowa’s education landscape.
  • Experience facilitating professional learning.
  • Experience working with K‑12 students.
