Job Description

Behavior Tech - KCU

Summary

Work closely with the Special Education Leader to identify, review, and create learning supports and plans for students who benefit from receiving individualized learning and/or behavior support. This individual will work closely with Lead Teachers at a site on the implementation of those plans by coaching and modeling as needed. The implementation fidelity of the plans will also be monitored by this individual.

Education and/or Experience

Working with students who receive individualized learning and behavior support.
Coaching and modeling the implementation of individualized plans with prevention and
response strategy components.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Safety Care certification required

Compensation

$20/hr

Summer Program

Program:
June 15 – July 31 (no classes on June 19th, July 3rd and July 6th)
Mandatory Training:
June 11-12 (8-12)
Student hours will be 8:00 – 12:00
Behavior Technician hours are 7:45-12:15 PM.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Communicate individualized learning and behavior plans to staff as appropriate.
  • Support with initial implementation of behavior plans which includes creating supports, coaching, and modeling for those who work with the student.
  • Monitor the implementation fidelity of plans.
  • Use de‑escalation strategies in response to a crisis situation.
  • Build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Frequent check‑ins throughout the day to classrooms to provide positive feedback and support.
  • Manage time appropriately.
  • Maintain appropriate records and protect the confidentiality of data.
  • Communicate well both orally and in writing.
  • Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and implement ideas contained in technical documents, assessment data, professional journals and regulations. Ability to effectively write reports and communications to students, colleagues, parents and staff. Ability to effectively present information orally and respond to questions from administrators, teachers, staff and students. Ability to assist students in the areas of language and literacy.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to perform basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, decimals and fractions. Ability to assist students in implementing these mathematical concepts.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve problems effectively. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
