Assure the safety of children crossing street intersections at designated crossing areas. Must wear city-provided safety vest and carry the STOP sign during all shifts.

Crossing Guard Employee Group

Not to exceed 48 minutes before school (0.8 of a day)

• Must complete required training course and pass quiz before beginning employment.

• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Enjoy working with young people.
• Ability to effectively supervise students while maintaining a positive relationship with them.
• Regular attendance.

Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle a portable stop sign; talk and hear. Continuous use of hand strength to grasp items. Frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing duties.

Moderately loud noise level due to vehicle traffic and residential equipment. Work during varied weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. May be required to stand or walk on surfaces covered with ice and/or snow.
