SUMMARY: Oversees all sites of Kids on Course University's 7 week summer program focused on the needs of those students enrolled with IEP's. This position will also oversee behavior techs. This person has a track record of moving students who experience barriers in learning and behavior. Helps to identify learning and behavioral needs, develops and coaches plans for staff at the sites to implement.
Leader develops and provides professional development to staff. Communicates with all stakeholders. Works closely with Site Leaders and Program Director to ensure access and equity for all students. This position requires about 20 hours of planning work in the months of April and May. June will require 20 hours of planning and implementing of professional development!
Eligibility for summer programming employment is limited to teachers who are currently employed by the district and confirmed to return for the upcoming academic year.

ENDORSEMENTS: BA in Education, preferably with reading endorsement; K-5 Elementary Education; K-5 Reading
EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE:
BA in Elementary Education;
Two years of teaching experience
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Iowa Teaching Certification with an endorsement
SUMMER PROGRAM: Program:
June 15 July 31 (no classes on June 19th, July 3rd, and July 6th)
Mandatory Training:
June 11-12 (8-12)
Student hours will be 8:00 12:00
Special Education Lead Teacher hours are 7:30AM 12:30PM.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Essential Duties must be performed on site. Other duties or tasks may be assigned.
- Oversees one site of Kids on Course University's 7-week summer program similar to a principal during the school year.
- Has a track record of moving students who experience barriers (IEP, ELL, F/R lunch) forward. Coordinates student transportation with CRCSD busing department.
- Helps select staff for KCU at the site, including classroom teachers, librarian, health secretary and enrichment leader.
- Coordinates daily behavior plans and provides positive interventions along with coordinating needs with site leader and teachers.
- Communicate with Ameri Corps workers and provide feedback to director.
- Oversees IEPs of students who are attending and communicates needs to site leader.
- Provide support to paras assigned to individual students needing additional support.
- Creates a culture of equity for all, having a growth mindset, and setting high expectations for all students.
- Works closely with the Program Director to ensure the daily activities grow student learning as effectively as possible.
- Leader of an innovative summer learning program that aims to serve children who need academic support most in the Cedar Rapids School District.
- Provides active communication and positive relationships with parents and community members.
- Assists and collaborates with the principal, teaching staff, parents and students on matters pertaining to academic achievement goals.
- Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing.
- Ability to organize and manage details in a thorough manner.
- Maintains appropriate records and protects the confidentiality of data.
- Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis.
- Other duties as assigned.

LANGUAGE
SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and implement ideas contained in technical documents, assessment data, professional journals and regulations. Ability to effectively write reports and communications to students, colleagues, parents and staff. Ability to effectively present information orally and respond to questions from administrators, teachers, staff and students. Ability to assist students in the areas of language and literacy.
MATHEMATICAL
SKILLS:
Ability to perform basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, decimals and fractions. Ability to assist students in implementing these mathematical concepts.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve problems effectively. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
