Counselor Secretary – 11 month – Franklin

Position will not start until the 2025‑2026 school year.

Duration: 11 months (2025‑2026 school year).

Hours:

8 hours per day.

    Hourly – $18.14 per hour minimum. All district benefits in accordance with work agreement.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the receptionist and supervise students waiting for appointments in the counseling office.
  • Use the Infinite Campus computer‑based student management system (input master schedule, update records, etc.).
  • Initiate and complete procedures on all student schedule changes, entries, and transfers.
  • Maintain accurate enrollment records, permit cards, and cumulative files.
  • Handle all correspondence.
  • Distribute passes for counselors.
  • Approve E‑Registration updates.
  • Assign locker entries in Infinite Campus.
  • Work with Transportation regarding changes, additions or deletions of student bus routes.
  • Maintain Open‑Enrollment, Permit and Magnet Continuation book/records.
  • Permanently store grades and organize report‑card mailings and all related tasks leading up to the mailing.
  • Work with feeder schools for sixth‑grade orientations in spring and high schools in the fall.
  • Record and update student test scores in the appropriate file.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
  • Successful experience in a responsible secretarial position.
  • Knowledge of Dell computer operation and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Experience with the Infinite Campus database for student record‑keeping.
  • Ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to work with staff, students, and the public.
  • Willingness to accept responsibility.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Enjoy working with young people.
  • Able and willing to work with students in crisis situations.
  • Capable of representing the school and district professionally (confidentiality, communication, dress, additional training).
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and initiate responsibility.
  • Experience relating to adult crisis situations.
  • Knowledge of general office procedures.
Essential Functions

Physical Demands

Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle and/or feel objects, tools or controls, talk and hear. Frequently must squat, stoop, kneel, reach above the head and forward 0–24 inches, occasionally up to 36 inches. Use hand strength to grasp items. Frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing duties.

Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds 0–12 feet and occasionally up to 20 feet. Push/pull items such as tables and carts. Specific vision abilities: close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus while supervising students and working with computers, written materials, reports, assessment data, etc.

Working Environment

Noise level is moderately quiet. The position requires the commitment of professional working hours that may include extension beyond a typical 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. workday. Employee will usually work in indoor temperatures.
