Job Description

This role involves coordinating and administering Site Safety Programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and company safety and occupational health standards and procedures. The position provides safety resource support for assigned operating units, including training and permitting. The Safety Coordinator must provide overall safety and health leadership to ensure all employees return 'Home Healthy - Home Safe' each shift.

The exact location of coverage will vary depending on workload and needs, and travel is required.

Responsibilities

+ Investigate any incident or near miss and report findings.

+ Attend safety meetings as required.

+ Conduct regular safety meetings with tradespersons to instruct them on project safety practices and requirements.

+ Conduct written daily safety inspections of work activities to ensure compliance with safe work practices.

+ Take direction related to timely abatement and control of hazards.

+ Lead or participate in incident investigations and emergency response.

+ Conduct site inspections and track all corrective actions to closure.

+ Perform job safety analysis.

+ Maintain jobsite-specific safety documentation.

+ Coach and teach safety across the region.

+ Conduct safety training sessions.

Essential Skills

+ 3-5 years of construction experience, with at least 2 years in on-site construction safety responsibilities.

+ Specialized training relevant to the scope of work.

+ OSHA 500-hour Construction Outreach Training or greater.

+ Working knowledge of construction safety regulations and hazard control methods.

+ Ability to conduct safety training.

+ Strong computer knowledge and skills.

+ Strong attention to detail.

+ Excellent organizational skills.

+ Strong tracking and follow-up skills.

+ Self-motivated.

+ Strong ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.

+ Demonstrated knowledge of risk, liability, and safety management.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+

Experience with OSHA 510, OSHA 30, and OSHA safety standards.

+ Background in health and safety.

+ Data Center Experience.

Work Environment

This is a fully onsite position, requiring up to 80-90% of the time walking around the site to ensure all safety guidelines are being followed. The role involves working with a leading provider of electrical engineering across the Midwest, with a rapidly growing project pipeline. This is a Contract position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
