Sr. Accountant

Description

An established organization in Cedar Rapids is seeking a Senior Accountant to take ownership of our day‑to‑day financial operations. This is a key role within a lean team, ideal for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, working independently, and having a direct impact on the business.

The Senior Accountant will manage the full accounting cycle, oversee financial reporting, ensure accurate month‑end close, and assist with payroll submissions.

What You'll Do

+ Manage all general accounting functions, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations

+ Lead the month‑end and year‑end close processes

+ Prepare financial statements, internal reports, and management dashboards

+ Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial data

+ Process or assist with bi‑weekly payroll submissions

+ Oversee AP/AR processes and ensure timely payments and collections

+ Partner with leadership to analyze financial performance and identify improvement opportunities

+ Assist with tax filings and compliance requirements

+ Implement process improvements and strengthen internal controls

Requirements

What You Bring

+ A Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred

+ 4+ years of progressive accounting experience; small business experience a plus

+ Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting

+

Experience with month-end close and reconciliation

+ Proficiency with accounting software (Quick Books, Sage, Net Suite, etc.)

+ Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with data

+ Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently
