Description

We are seeking a detail‑oriented and highly organized Accounting Clerk for a contract‑to‑hire opportunity. This role supports day‑to‑day financial operations while also serving as the first point of contact for the office. Responsibilities include core accounting tasks-such as Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)-as well as managing incoming calls and greeting visitors.

The ideal candidate is friendly, professional, and comfortable balancing both financial tasks and customer‑facing interactions.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable (AP)

+ Enter and process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner

+ Match purchase orders, packing slips, and invoices

+ Prepare weekly payment runs and verify appropriate approvals

+ Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies

Accounts Receivable (AR)

+ Create and send customer invoices

+ Apply customer payments and maintain accurate AR records

+ Monitor aging reports and assist with collections communication

+ Respond to billing inquiries and provide supporting documentation as needed

Front Desk & Customer Service

+ Serve as the first point of contact for all incoming calls; route to appropriate staff

+ Greet and assist walk‑in visitors with professionalism and courtesy

+ Manage incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries

+ Maintain a tidy, welcoming reception area

General Administrative & Accounting Support

+ Assist with filing, data entry, and document management

+ Support month‑end close tasks as assigned

+ Maintain accurate and organized financial records

+ Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth office operations

Requirements

Qualifications

+ 1-3 years of accounting or clerical experience (AP/AR preferred)

+ Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills

+ Professional communication skills, both in person and on the phone

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)

+

Experience with accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, SAP, Net Suite) is a plus

+ Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast‑paced environment

+ Positive, customer‑service‑oriented attitude
