Surgical Tech, Medical Assistant
St. David's North Austin Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, invites applicants to join our team as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST). This position supports patient care during surgical procedures in a sterile environment.
Job Summary- Assist in the cleaning and preparation of the operating room suite.
- Support surgeon and nursing staff by providing appropriate instrumentation.
- Maintain sterile field and assist with equipment handling.
- Prepare patients, equipment, and rooms for each procedure.
- Maintain instrument counts and supply management.
- Assist the circulating nurse and RN as directed.
- Perform intra‑operative management and anticipate surgeon needs.
- Provide care for patients before, during, and after surgery.
- Ensure compliance with infection‑control standards.
- Previous experience as a Surgical Technician in inpatient surgical specialties.
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or approved hospital training program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. David’s policy.
- Current Surgical Technologist certification earned within 180 days of graduation if graduated after September 1 2009.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
- Strong organization, teamwork, and communication skills.
Certified Surgical Technologist program or equivalent hospital training. Proof of program completion required.
Licenses and Certifications- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Certifications from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting, the National Center for Competency Testing, or an approved program.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – preferred.
