Production Manager
Crucial Hire is partnering with a well-established manufacturing organization in the auto and transportation manufacturing space to identify a Production Supervisor for a 2nd shift operation
. This role is a key part of the manufacturing leadership team and works closely with plant leadership to oversee daily production activities during second shift hours.
This is a hands‑on leadership position that balances people leadership with direct involvement on the production floor, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, workflow efficiency, and team development.
What You’ll Do- Execute daily production plans for second shift by scheduling and assigning personnel, establishing priorities, monitoring schedules, resolving issues, and reporting shift results through production summaries.
- Lead manufacturing staff by clearly communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and evaluating performance; and coaching, counseling, training, and disciplining employees as needed.
- Select, orient, and train production employees while supporting ongoing development and growth opportunities.
- Maintain efficient workflow by monitoring each step of the production process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; and ensuring proper allocation of personnel and resources.
- Study manufacturing methods and implement cost reduction and process improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain reporting procedures and systems while facilitating corrective actions for process or equipment issues.
- Spend approximately 50% of time performing direct labor within the area of responsibility.
- Identify, anticipate, and address safety and health concerns by evaluating environmental, operational, and occupational conditions.
- Act as the quality inspector for assigned areas, ensuring compliance with organizational quality standards.
- Ensure all direct and indirect materials are available to support efficient production operations.
- Provide manufacturing data and insights by compiling, analyzing, and reporting production performance information.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Foster teamwork and cooperation within and across departments to support overall production goals.
- Contribute to broader manufacturing objectives by supporting related initiatives as needed.
- High School Diploma or GED (required).
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 3+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Proven ability to lead teams and drive results through others.
- Strong problem analysis and problem-resolution skills at a functional level.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety.
- Valid driver’s license (required).
- Strong customer-oriented mindset.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft products.
- Ability and willingness to work a 2nd or 3rd shift schedule
