Position Purpose

Responds to ambulance calls and provides advanced patient care. Directs care and provides guidance forms vehicle maintenance and assists in the Emergency Room.

Responds to ambulance calls and provides advanced patient care. Directs care and provides guidance forms vehicle maintenance and assists in the Emergency Room.

• Conduct an initial and ongoing assessment to gather data relevant to each patient’s needs.
• Identify patient care needs and follow protocol.
• Evaluate outcome of treatment and revise plan as needed.
• Communicate relevant patient information.
• Transport sick or injured persons to hospital, or convalescents to destination, avoiding sudden motions detrimental to patients.
• Perform vehicle maintenance: check vehicles, perform maintenance or report to head mechanic, maintain all equipment within rig, report discrepancies to manager.
• Assist in audits and other clinical areas as needed.
• Participate in public relations and educational activities.

1.0 FTE; 80 hours per pay period; will include a weekend and holiday rotation.

• Graduate of an Iowa Paramedic Course or National Paramedic Course.
• Certified Iowa Paramedic or RN Exemption.
• Valid IA Class C driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
• Proficient in BLS, ACLS, PALS, Mandatory Reporter. (Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) within 6 months of hire.)
• Intermediate language, intermediate math, high reasoning ability.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of people; convey a positive image and build positive relationships; work under pressure. Must pass pre‑hire physical agility test.
