POSITION:
Seasonal Weed and Pest Control Sprayer
DEPARTMENT: Weeds
SALARY: $17.39/hour
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Seasonal / At Will / Non-Benefitted Position
Job SummaryPerforms semi‑skilled work under the County Wide Noxious Weed and Pest Control Program as defined in the Utah Code, Title 4 Chapter 17, the Utah Noxious Weed Act. Works under the direction and close supervision of the Weed Supervisor to determine weed and pest control priorities. See job description for a complete listing of duties.
Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent; some experience in weed control or similar work providing knowledge of herbicides, chemicals and combinations of chemicals for effective weed and pest eradication; obtain pesticide applicator's license within 30 days of hire;
Iron County will pay the cost of the Pesticide License.
Must have and maintain a valid Utah Driver License in accordance with Iron County Personnel Policy Section 30;
Knowledge of- the types of weed and pests present in Iron County; types of herbicides and pesticides most effective on the varieties of weeds and the methods most effective in spraying for their eradication;
Iron County Geography; RS 2477 and rights‑of‑way; GPS computer systems; UST rules and regulations; work zone regulations; basic mathematics;
- operating weed and pest control equipment;
- communicate with co‑workers and the public; detect various weeds and determine the procedure for their eradication; read plat maps; read blueprints, plans and specifications; perform duties without supervision;
