The Athletic Academic Advisor will provide individualized, tailored, and holistic academic support services for assigned student‑athletes, ensuring they exceed academic eligibility standards, satisfy NCAA Division I progress‑toward‑degree requirements, and graduate with their desired degree while maintaining strict adherence to NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations.
Essential Functions- Hold tailored academic advising meetings with student‑athletes, discussing chosen degree progression, NCAA DI PTD requirements, academic performance, and course selection/registration.
- Monitor academic progress: pull weekly grade reports, assign & monitor study hall hours, request progress reports from faculty, and set up personalized course tutoring sessions. Communicate information clearly to relevant coaching staff and administrators while adhering to FERPA.
- Perform and document periodic NCAA DI eligibility checks. Monitor progress throughout the semester and collaborate with the Athletic Eligibility Specialist and Faculty Athletics Representative to finalize terms‑end reports. Communicate concerns to compliance staff and administrators.
- Evaluate initial and continuing academic eligibility of incoming student‑athletes: perform transcript evaluations for incoming high‑school, 2‑4, 4‑2‑4, and 4‑4 transfer student‑athletes per NCAA DI requirements. Document and communicate evaluation information to appropriate staff.
- Take part in recruiting visits with coaching staff, meeting prospective student‑athletes and their families to discuss academic support services and the department’s commitment to academic success.

Minimum Qualifications
- 4‑Year Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Ability to navigate high‑pressure, fast‑paced environments with ease.
- Work effectively with diverse populations of student‑athletes, faculty, staff, coaches, and administrators.
- Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge of NCAA DI bylaws, especially those related to initial and continuing eligibility (PTD).
- Master’s degree.
- 2‑3 years of experience working directly with student‑athletes in an advisory capacity.
