The City of Manassas is accepting applications for our Head Lifeguard opportunities at Stonewall Park Pool. - Enforce pool rules and regulations and monitor pool use for the safety of the general public.
- Train new lifeguards.
- Observe and oversee the activities of swimmers; scan the water; enforce pool rules; maintain discipline at the facility; take preventive safety actions.
- Rescue distressed swimmers; provide emergency first aid and CPR; perform other emergency lifesaving services as needed.
- Provide written reports on incidents, injuries, and rescues; maintain related documentation.
- Report employee concerns and problems to pool managers; coordinate and assign work; provide direction; assist with staff training.
- Maintain swimming pool and facility; monitor, regulate, and record pool chemical levels; monitor and regulate temperature of pool water.
- Vacuum and skim pool; clean deck areas, restrooms, locker rooms, walkways, and pool furniture; stock paper goods; maintain related documentation.
- Perform preventative maintenance and essential cleaning tasks for the pool, deck, concessions, building, locker rooms, bathrooms, pump room, basement, and other related areas within the pool facilities.
- Assist in instructing swimming lessons; register program participants.
- Maintain a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable policies and procedures; participate in in-service activities; attend meetings and training sessions as appropriate.
- Prepare documentation such as water quality tests and results records, safety reports, incident and injury reports, aquatic rescue reports, opening and closing duty records, and timesheets.
- Refer to pool operators training, lifeguard training, CPR, AED, first aid training, employee handbooks, policy and procedure manuals, codes/laws/regulations, publications and reference texts, etc.
- One year of lifeguarding experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
- Must possess and maintain the following certifications:
Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid/AED. Must be at least 16 years of age. - A swim test will be required in order to maintain employment with the City.
- All employees must complete staff orientation.
- Employees are required to work a combination of weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
