General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store, as well as the general operations and supervision of the Store when acting as the Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors open and close the Store, supervise Associates, and maintain a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment. They ensure proper merchandise presentation and maintain a clean work area at all times while executing and supervising Company operational processes as needed.

  • Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
    • Safety is the #1 priority; practice safe behaviors in everything you do.
    • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe, secure shopping environment for everyone; immediately correct or report any unsafe conditions or practices to Store Leadership.
    • Responsible for building security, entrance/exit control, Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) daily function checks, Cash Office security, armored carrier pick‑ups, and register area.
    • Remove clutter and ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
    • Responsible for Customer safety, including accident prevention, accident reporting, and emergency procedures.
    • Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled; respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
  • Customer Service
    • Treat all Customers, Associates, and other leaders with respect.
    • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times. Recognize Associates using Company recognition programs.
  • Personal and Store Brand
    • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
    • Maintain professional appearance in accordance with the Company Dress Code; ensure all Associates adhere to the Dress Code at all times.
    • Keep all store areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
    • Responsible for daily trash removal.
  • General Merchandising
    • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to Company standards through teaching, assigning tasks, and following up per best practice.
    • Receive merchandise truck when needed; process all merchandise with urgency.
    • Handle non‑merchandise inbound deliveries (signs, supplies, special deliveries, etc.).
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms; help and place merchandise on the sales floor.
    • Ensure any back‑stock is secured and processed to Company policy; oversee merchandising of departments.
    • Reduce loss due to damage; comply with monthly presentation guidelines in assigned area.
    • Execute floor moves, signing, and promotional signing as needed; re‑wraps as required.
  • Loss Prevention
    • Understand and comply with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program; maintain a large Customer service presence on the sales floor.
    • Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions; safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
    • Maintain the Public View Monitor (PVM) system properly; conduct “code” package inspections.
    • Execute all Company Best Practices and maximize productivity by minimizing steps and touches while working.
  • Front End Supervision and Operations
    • Maximize productivity by minimizing steps and extra touches; ensure Associates execute to Company standards at the front end.
    • Maintain pace, energy, and presence; manage the line to expedite wait times.
    • Train and coach Associates on cash registers, shortage control policies, and other front‑end procedures to meet friendly and productivity standards.
    • Control Retail Associates’ break schedule for backups, lunches, and breaks.
    • Maintain proper equipment, supplies, and recovery for the front end.
    • Ensure go‑backs are expedited, properly scanned, security‑tagged, and ticketed.
