Salary Range: $37 – $39 / hour.
What You’ll DoAs a hospice social worker, you will provide emotional and logistical support to patients and their loved ones during a vulnerable time. You will help patients manage affairs, honor wishes for finances and funeral arrangements, and guide families through the grieving process.
Where You’ll WorkMost of your time will be caring for patients at their homes or in assisted living/skilled nursing facilities. Once per week, you will attend interdisciplinary team meetings at the office.
What’s Expected From You- Possess a social work license, reliable transportation, and at least one year of healthcare experience.
- Demonstrate commitment, compassion, and a can‑do attitude.
- Center patient welfare and extend comfort and dignity to all people at the end of their lives.
- Ability to travel per job requirements.
- Thorough knowledge of community resources or the willingness to acquire it.
- Knowledge of psychosocial issues in terminally ill patients and effective interventions.
- Team‑work skills as interdisciplinary member.
- Excellent listening and communication skills.
- Advocacy for patients and families.
- Provision of emotional psychological support, counseling, crisis intervention, bereavement support and grief counseling.
- Education of patients and families regarding emotional and psychological responses to illness progression.
- Master’s of Social Work from an accredited school, or grandfathered 2008 CMS criteria.
- At least one year of social work experience in a health care setting.
- Experience with terminally ill patients and their families (preferred).
- Experience providing counseling and support to patients and families.
- Empathy and compassion in dealing with seriously ill patients and families.
- State licensure/certification as required (e.g., BSW in FL or WI).
