Description
Performs skilled and semi-skilled building maintenance work, including painting, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, and electrical tasks for the repair, alteration, and upkeep of County facilities, equipment, and grounds.
Lead PositionThe Lead position assists in planning, organizing, and coordinating maintenance and construction activities, while providing guidance and training to assigned staff. Serves in a lead capacity to ensure quality and efficiency in daily operations and specialized maintenance projects.
Examples of DutiesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(The following examples are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive)
- Performs specialized operation and maintenance of building control systems, to include H.V.A.C., plumbing, security systems and life safety systems.
- Performs specialized construction and remodel work to building facilities and equipment using a variety of hand and power tools. (framing, drywall, painting, and flooring etc.)
- Performs maintenance and repair of all building electrical system, to include high and low voltage components.
- Operates a variety of motorized and powered equipment to include heavy equipment. Performs daily inspection of equipment before and after use to include preventative maintenance.
- Provides customer service for internal and external customers. Establish and maintain strong relationship with customers to ensure specifications are understood, communicated, and executed.
- Communicates with internal and external customers, and vendors to make repairs, coordinate work, and order supplies. Understand and follows verbal and written instructions. Documents time and materials used through County work order process.
- Completes accurate work orders and reporting. Maintain preventive and unscheduled maintenance logs.
- Mentor the development of the Building Maintenance Technicians to help expand their knowledge and understanding of the specialized building systems.
- Assure safety standards are used which comply with all County guidelines.
- Order and purchase necessary parts and maintain required documents.
- Ensures sidewalks adjacent to County facilities are kept free of snow and ice.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- May exercise direct or indirect supervision of employees, operations, and activities; may include coordinating staff training, assigning and reviewing work, participating in the interview and selection process, making recommendations impacting pay, status, and disciplinary action, evaluating performance independently or in conjunction with a higher-level supervisor/manager, and approving time off.
- Conducts and/or coordinates orientation, training, and ongoing education programs for staff.
- Provides instructions and guidance, coordinates work schedules, and may approve timesheets.
EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE:
- A high school diploma or GED
- Four years of building maintenance experience is required.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- A minimum of five years of commercial building maintenance, repair experience, or related experience is required.
- One year of supervisory or lead experience preferred
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check including fingerprinting through a national database.
- Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License upon hire, with complying insurance. Review of motor vehicle record is required at time of hire and periodically throughout employment.
