Underground Utilities Foreman

Supervises the lay out, assembly and installation of sewer and water lines, manholes and large drain pipes. Experienced with trench boxes, shoring equipment, trenching and excavating around underground utilities such as gas, power, water, sewer and fiber optic lines.

• Studies project specifications with project superintendent to plan procedures for pipe installation sequencing.
• Coordinates and supervises daily activities of 2 to 10 people.
• Operates assigned heavy equipment to excavate, install and backfill of underground utilities, manholes, large pipes and culverts.
• Inspects work site to determine sequencing and method of pipe installation and survey for potential hazards or safety concerns. Responsible for crew safety.
• Conducts task training for new employees and advancing operators.
• Plans sewer and water installation to reduce inference with other project activities and traveling public.
• Enforces company policies. Establish safe work environment that complies with OSHA standards and company safety program.
• Comply with federal, state and company environmental policies.
• Observes assigned equipment to detect machinery malfunctions.
• Operates machinery to verify repair. Inspects work to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules.
• Uses instruments such as lasers, grade rods, eye levels and transit levels to set appropriate grade for pipe installation.
• Using Heavy Job project management software, enter and transfer project information (employee & equipment hours, load counts, etc.) to appropriate location (i.e. onsite computer, Corporate HQ).
• Travel in and around the company trade area: CO, MT, SD & WY.
