The Cashier role at The Home Depot focuses on customer service, processing Checkout and Return transactions, monitoring the Self-Checkout area, and seeking product knowledge to provide customers with information and identify selling opportunities. Cashiers follow all policies and procedures to minimize shrink. A Head Cashier may position Cashiers and support them by expediting price checks, approving Point of Sale transactions and markdowns across mainline registers, Self-Checkout, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services and Tool Rental, and may assist in supervising, coaching and training Front End Associates.

• Process Checkout and/or Return transactions accurately and efficiently.
• Monitor and maintain the Self-Checkout area.
• Seek product knowledge to provide customers with information and identify selling opportunities.
• Follow all policies and procedures to ensure that shrink is minimized.
• Assist the Head Cashier by expediting price checks and approving POS transactions and markdowns for mainline registers, Self-Checkout, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental.
• Provide first level escalation for customer issues and assist in supervision, coaching and training of Front End Associates by participating in the training of new Cashiers and using available tools to coach and develop other Cashiers.

• 1+ years of cashier experience preferred.
• Proactively seek product knowledge to provide customers with information and identify selling opportunities.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to follow policies and procedures to minimize shrink.
