JOB SUMMARY
The AR Billing Supervisor will be flexible and adaptive, anticipating growth within our expanding outpatient practice to include adding multiple sites as well as providers to our billing matrix. This position oversees daily billing operations for radiology services, ensuring accurate charge capture, timely claim submission, compliance with payer and regulatory requirements, and optimal reimbursement. This role leads billing staff, resolves complex billing issues, and collaborates closely with coding, clinical, and administrative teams to support a high-performing revenue cycle.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise end-to-end radiology billing processes, including charge entry, claim submission, payment posting, and follow-up.
- Ensure accurate billing for radiology procedures (professional and/or technical components).
- Monitor claim denials, underpayments, and rejections; implement corrective actions to reduce revenue leakage.
- Oversee reconciliation of accounts receivable and ensure timely resolution of outstanding balances.
- Must be able to affirm accounts are being worked timely and correctly
- Tickler must not be more than 30 days out
- Denials must be worked within 5 days.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate billing staff; assign workloads and ensure productivity standards are met.
- Provide onboarding, ongoing training, and performance coaching.
- Ensure and affirm teams’ phones calls are being answered and/or returned in timely fashion.
- Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.

- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, payer guidelines, and radiology-specific billing regulations.
- Stay current on CPT®, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and payer policy changes impacting radiology billing.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure billing accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare and analyze billing and A/R reports (e.g., aging, denial trends, days in A/R).
- Track KPIs and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and collections.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Work closely with radiologists, coding teams, front-end staff, and IT/EHR vendors.
- Assist with billing system updates, workflow optimizations, and payer communications.
