Regional Senior Accountant Idaho​/Montana​/Wyoming

Overview

Knife River is seeking a qualified professional to support accounting functions with emphasis on accuracy, ethics, and process improvement. The role requires collaboration with operations and accounting staff, adherence to SOX controls, and contribution to project initiatives and regional standardization.

• Work safely and take action to prevent unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors
• Prepare regular balance sheet reconciliations including subledger to ledger, intercompany, cash, and others
• Use Excel to prepare journal entries, analyze for reasonability, post to JDE, then review
• Work under SOX controls and track compliance
• Research and resolve issues working with operations and other accounting staff
• Support the Assistant Controller in any accounting functions as needed
• Coordinate efforts on projects including new software initiatives, operational accounting support, regional standardization, etc.
• Find ways to improve processes
• Must maintain confidentiality of financial data
• Must always maintain the highest level of moral and ethical standards
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment with a positive attitude and solid work ethic

• Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in accounting and 5+ years of relevant experience
• Well-developed analytical, accounting, and financial skills
• High ethical and moral standards
• Meticulous attention to accuracy and detail

• Experience in the construction industry
• Experience with reconciliations, journal entries, and month end close process

• Proficient in Excel
• Experience with JDE or other ERP systems
• Solid problem solving
• Clear oral and written communication
• Good time management and organization
• Practiced in self-motivation
