This position performs the functions of shipping and receiving, material handling, inventory management and record-keeping for incoming and outgoing shipments of company products and vendor parts necessary to manufacturing of products; stores and distributes material, tools, equipment, and products within the warehouse, ensures accuracy and timeliness of all job functions; verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties to quality and productivity standards.
Responsibilities- Determines method of shipment and prepares bills, invoices and other shipping documents.
- Receive material - check and signs delivery slips, and assists with unloading as necessary.
- Inspect and verifies incoming goods against invoices or other documents, records shortages and rejects damaged goods.
- Accept or returns material according to established company procedures. Prints and affixes proper labels.
- Organize distribution and shipping of merchandise. Make necessary verifications against documents.
- May operate forklift, hand truck or other equipment to load, unload, transport and store goods.
- Maintain internal record-keeping systems.
- Contact transport companies and suppliers in order to expedite, trace or return material that does not conform to specifications or purchase orders.
- Assembles containers and crates, packs goods to be shipped and prepares identifying information and shipping instructions.
- Take inventory, maintain storage area, organize and place stock on shelves. Ensure area is secure at all times.
- Keeping up date inventories and invoices in the system.
- Assist Supervisor as needed.
- Locate material according to layout.
- Examine shipment contents and compare with invoices to verify accuracy.
- Record discrepancies in order to make a failure warning if it is necessary.
- Shipping schedules follow up/attainment Generates and provides proper paperwork for transportation.
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 2-3 years related experience in shipping activities in a manufacturing or similar fast-paced environment
- Supervisory experience would be an asset
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Proficiency with database applications and administration systems, specifically Microsoft Office
- Must be a highly motivated, service and team-oriented individual with an attention to detail
- Strong analytical ability
Physical Requirements
- Standing and Walking: Ability to stand and walk for 8–12 hours per shift on hard surfaces in a production environment.
- Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands for handling tools, assembling components, and operating machinery. Requires fine motor skills and grip strength.
- Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing 10–50 lbs. regularly; occasional lifting up to 75 lbs. with assistance.
- Reaching and Bending: Routine reaching above shoulders, bending, and twisting waist, and squatting as part of process and tasks.
- Repetitive Motions: Continuous arm, hand, and wrist movements for tasks such as fastening, positioning, and installing.
- Climbing: Occasional use of steps to access different height level areas.
- PPE Expectations: Must wear required PPE (safety shoes, gloves, protective sleeves, eye and hearing protection) as per company safety standards.
