JOB GOAL: Under direction of the site principal the Welding teacher plans, develops, and conducts classes that follow the Arizona state standards for a qualified CTE program, acts as advisor in the Skills USA student organization, and supervises the high school student work‑based learning in accordance with the Arizona CTE Qualified Program guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS- Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate in the appropriate subject area.
- Valid IVP Fingerprint Card is required.
- CTE Certified in appropriate subject area or ability to obtain the CTE Certification through Industry Experience, Degree, Industry Certifications, or a combination of education and experience that leads to certification.
- Demonstrates organizational ability.
- Clear and professional communication skills (verbal and written).

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIESResponsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the
- Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the needs, interests, and abilities of individuals to ensure student achievement.
- Creates a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in enables each student to achieve learning objectives, including those related to personal safety and industrial safety standards.
- Provides an instructional program to meet the needs of all students including students with disabilities.
- Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
- Establishes learning objectives consistent with appraisal of student needs; requirements of the district’s curriculum framework, and knowledge of student growth and development.
- Plans for and utilizes instructional methods, resources and evaluation techniques which motivate and enable each student to achieve learning objectives that incorporate all CTE best practices. Plans include sharing of equipment and gear with other programs.
- Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of Exceptional Students staff as required. Provides input when necessary to students IEP’s.
- Takes all necessary and safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, CGUHSD policy and administrative regulation. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
- Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
- Establishes professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents and community which reflect recognition of and respect for every individual.
- Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals and volunteers. May evaluate paraprofessional’s job performance with department chairs and/or administrators.
- Appraises own effectiveness and demonstrates successful application of skills and information acquired to increase effectiveness. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence through professional development.
