POSITION SUMMARY:
The Pilates Reformer Instructor is responsible for delivering safe, engaging, and effective Pilates Reformer classes for members of all fitness levels. The instructor will create a welcoming environment, provide individualized modifications, and inspire participants to improve their strength, flexibility, posture, and overall well-being. This role requires professionalism, excellent communication, and a commitment to the YMCA’s mission of promoting health and wellness for all.
Pay Range: $35-$50/hr based on class size.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Instruction & Programming
- Plan, instruct, and lead Pilates Reformer classes in alignment with best practices, YMCA standards, and industry guidelines.
- Deliver clear, motivating, and safe instruction while ensuring proper technique and form.
- Offer appropriate modifications and progressions to meet the needs of diverse participants.
- Maintain an engaging, supportive environment that encourages participation, consistency, and improvement.
Member Engagement
- Welcome and connect with participants, learning names and goals to create a personalized experience.
- Promote wellness programs and services, including small group training and personal training opportunities.
- Foster a sense of community and accountability among participants to support member retention.
Safety & Facility Care
- Ensure all equipment is used safely, properly maintained, and stored correctly.
- Adhere to risk management policies and emergency procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting studio space.
Professional Development
- Stay current with Pilates Reformer practices, continuing education, and fitness industry trends.
- Attend required YMCA staff meetings, trainings, and continuing education sessions.
- Serve as a positive role model of health and wellness in the community.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must hold a nationally recognized certification in Pilates Reformer instruction (e.g., STOTT, Balanced Body, Peak Pilates, BASI, Polestar, or equivalent).
- Must obtain CPR, AED, and First Aid certification within the first 30 days of hire.
- Demonstrated ability to lead safe and effective Pilates Reformer classes.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate and engage participants.
- Prior experience in a health club, studio, or YMCA setting preferred.
