Overview

This is a full time position. Primary responsibility is to Take Excellent Care Of Our Customers by satisfying each customer's needs and exceeding their expectations. This requires a defined level of product knowledge, food preparation skills, sales ability, customer relations skills, and cooperation with fellow associates to create An Incredible Place To Work and Shop. Responsible for preparing, processing, packaging, and stocking products according to Fresh Foods Standards.

Also responsible for providing customer service, cleaning work areas, unloading stock, and reloading salvage products according to Fresh Foods Standards.

The way associates perform their jobs presents an image of the entire Company. The public is served best when associates are courteous, friendly, helpful, and prompt in addressing customer needs.

Harris Teeter will provide training to all associates who have extensive customer contact. If a customer wishes to make a specific comment or complaint that you cannot resolve, you are required to direct that person to the department manager or manager-on-duty for appropriate action. Positive customer relations will enhance the public image of Harris Teeter and support customer loyalty and sales.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Initiate interaction with customers on the sales floor and sales counter.
• Ask the customers questions regarding their shopping needs and provide information to meet their tastes and meal requirements.
• Follow through on customer requests and, if you cannot say "yes" to a request, bring in department management or the manager-on-duty. Never turn down business.
• Make eye contact with and smile at every customer.
• Speak to customers in a genuine, clear, and enthusiastic manner and ask if they found everything they were looking for.
• Reflect an appropriate business image to customers and visitors; dress and groom according to company policy and standards.
• Be reliable and punctual; notify supervision if late or absent and follow scheduling guidelines.

• Prepare and decorate bread, pastries, and other baked goods according to recipes and production schedules.
• Check production schedule to determine variety and quantity, bake items, and ensure proper cooling and decoration standards.
• Obtain or prepare food items requested by customers at counter; handle cooking and portioning per standards.
• Operate equipment to prepare and portion products according to standards and customer specifications.

• Sell only fresh products; follow standards for preparation, merchandising, rotation, dating, and markdowns; comply with food safety policy RO-37.
• Ensure products are properly refrigerated and monitor temperatures of product, cases, and coolers.
• Keep shelves stocked and displays well merchandised; process close-dated and damaged product per standards.
• Check merchandising displays and offer daily samples as appropriate; inform management of any issues with advertised items, prices, or signage.
• Unload and stock products; unload from truck and place in coolers; load salvage as required.
• Maintain cleanliness according to Health Department and Department of Agriculture standards; sanitize prep areas and surfaces; maintain neat store appearance.
• Understand overall Fresh Foods operations; assist in inventory and price changes; complete paperwork accurately.

• Follow all safety regulations; report accidents and hazards; maintain records in designated logs.
• Handle, mix, and apply chemicals per directions and Hazard Communication Program Manual.
• Adapt to shifting priorities; perform multiple tasks; balance direction with initiative.
• Support fellow associates and provide assistance with unloading, deliveries, inventory, and displays as needed.
