Caregivers are the main support providers to residents, offering emotional support and assisting with daily living activities such as waking, toileting, feeding, safety, and social participation. They report to the Wellness Coordinator as part of the Resident Care Team.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) – waking, toileting, feeding, safety, light cleaning, oral care, and bathing.
- Respond to the resident emergency call system in a timely manner.
- Provide assistance during mealtimes, activities, and other required tasks.
- Offer emotional support, treating residents with respect, dignity, and a positive, cheerful demeanor.
- Promote safety and wellbeing using written procedures, safety equipment, and awareness of potential hazards.
- Assist with janitorial and housekeeping tasks as needed.
- Participate in shift‑change meetings to communicate resident status or special needs.
- Report changes in behavior or medical conditions to community leadership.
- Follow directions from shift supervisors regarding care, emergencies, and resident needs.
- Communicate with outside agencies and community partners such as hospice and home‑health agencies.
- Complete all required documentation (resident care summary, 24‑hour report, shower logs, etc.).
- Assist with other duties assigned by the Wellness Coordinator or community leadership.
- Patience – understands people and processes before acting, listens carefully, and follows established procedures.

- Passion for Seniors – strong commitment to working with the senior population, often driven by personal or prior professional experience.
- Integrity and Trust – acts honestly, follows through on commitments, and prioritizes residents’ best interests.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- In North Carolina, a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is required.
- Previous caregiver experience preferred.
- Experience with the elderly or memory‑impaired adults preferred.
- Constant use of manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills, and gross motor skills.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
- Susceptibility to exposure to hot water and cleaning chemicals.
- Physical capability to reach, bend, twist, squat, kneel, push, and pull.
- Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds; 80 pounds may be required using transfer belts or mechanical aids.
- Ability to perform repetitive movements such as grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
- Should be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
