Job Summary

As an entry‑level Graduate Engineer, you will help address some of the world’s most pressing infrastructure challenges. You will work on diverse projects and serve as a resource in Civil, Structural, or Electrical functions. The EDGE Program offers a multi‑year rotational experience across 3–4 roles, including a field assignment to see projects from start to finish. Quarterly development sessions focus on leadership and innovation, building a strong foundation for long‑term success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engineering Standards:
    Read, understand, and apply departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes, and Black & Veatch policies and procedures.
  • Quality / Continuous Improvement:
    Understand and comply with the Black & Veatch quality program; support continuous improvement and change‑management efforts.
  • Engineering Production:
    Contribute to preparation of less complex engineering deliverables (drawings, reports, specifications, studies); perform routine research and develop equipment/material recommendations; collect, manage engineering data; prepare basic engineering calculations; adhere to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Project Coordination:
    Share information as requested; coordinate with others under supervisor or project leadership direction.
  • Client Focus:
    Focus on internal client needs while gaining a basic understanding of external client interests; may support business development or pursuit activities.
  • Knowledge Sharing, Innovation and Technology:
    Share current knowledge of latest technology and processes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, Environmental, or Structural Engineering.
  • Previous internship experience.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • Less than 2 years of professional engineering or construction experience (internships do not count).
  • Basic knowledge of engineering design principles, design guides, and standards.
  • Insights into industry trends and developing technologies.
  • Fundamental knowledge of construction practices and principles.
  • Strong problem‑solving, written communication, and peer‑relationship skills.
  • Intermittent travel to project sites; short‑term or long‑term relocation to project sites and regional offices.
Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program. All applicants must complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, motor‑vehicle records search). Must have work authorization and not require future visa sponsorship. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Work Environment

Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion, job performance, and work assignments.
