The OpportunityWe are seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to design, develop and maintain software applications that facilitate engineering design for the BV Operations division. The role requires full‑stack development expertise and database management skills.
The TeamBusiness Enablement consists of groups such as Digital & IT, Global Finance, HR, Legal, Risk Management, Government Affairs and Real Estate & Building Services.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, test, and deploy custom software solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software defects.
- Implement best practices in architecture, design patterns, code quality, and Dev Ops processes.
- Collaborate with product managers and cross‑functional teams to align development with business goals.
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and agile ceremonies to ensure delivery velocity and clarity.
- Utilize modern development workflows using tools such as Jira and Bitbucket.
Acts in capacity of a lead person but does not manage people directly.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field OR equivalent work experience; eight years related experience.
- Training related to business area supported (e.g., Accounting, Engineering).
- All applicants must complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements, including background checks, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with applicable laws.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years professional software development experience.
- Proficiency in full‑stack technologies (Angular, Node.js, Java, CSS, etc.).
- Expertise in C++ programming and SQL.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication, collaboration, stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
- Experience with Bitbucket (or Git‑based tools) for version control and CI/CD integration.
- Familiarity with Azure cloud services.
- Knowledge of energy or utility domains.
- Experience in a matrixed or enterprise environment with multiple stakeholders.
Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment, based on manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.
