Technical Specialist – Nuclear Power Plant Design

Full‑time, Staff – Individual Contributor

U.S. – flexible to any office. Relocation eligible.

• Lead the design of steel and reinforced concrete structural systems for nuclear power plant projects.
• Develop advanced engineering calculations and support equipment selection.
• Prepare technical specifications, scope documents, and construction drawings.
• Provide technical guidance to project teams and supervise lower‑level staff.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on moderately complex projects.
• Ensure compliance with Black & Veatch quality, safety, and environmental programs.
• Participate in business development activities and client engagements.
• Document and promote best practices and lessons learned across the organization.

• Significant design experience at nuclear power plants.
• Experience writing construction specifications and scope documents.
• Familiarity with nuclear document design verification.
• Proficiency in software: RISA‑3D, STAAD‑PRO, GT‑STRUDEL, ANSYS.
• Knowledge of code experience: ASME Section III & XI, AISC 15th Edition, ACI 318 & 349.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• Minimum 5 years of related work experience.
• Entry‑level engineering registration or licensure to support an engineer of record (EOR) is required.
• Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (criminal background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search, etc.).

Active engineering registration or licensure supporting engineer of record (EOR).

• Hybrid or flexible work options available after the first 90 days.
• Travel to project sites as required.
• Physically capable of reading, writing, and using standard office equipment.
