Charter One works with schools across the country to provide all-inclusive education management services. We handle the day‑to‑day work so that client school boards can focus on governance and policy issues to be sure that the vision and mission of the school are being carried out properly.

American Leadership Academy - Monroe is accepting applications for a Math/ Science Teacher for the academic school year. Candidates must be willing to undergo a background check.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Design and implement a mathematics and scientific curriculum that covers key concepts and skills appropriate for the grade level and aligns with state and national standards.
  • Develop detailed lesson plans that include clear objectives, instructional strategies, and assessment methods;
    Develop detailed lesson plans that incorporate scientific inquiry, experimentation, and theory.
  • Incorporate a variety of instructional materials and resources to support diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Teach math and science concepts and skills through engaging and effective methods, including lectures, hands‑on activities, group work, and technology integration.
  • Facilitate lessons that promote problem‑solving, critical thinking, and mathematical/scientific reasoning.
  • Use real‑world examples and applications to make math/science concepts relevant and interesting to students.
  • Create and administer a range of assessments, including quizzes, tests, projects, and homework, to evaluate student understanding and progress.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback on student work and performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress, and use data to inform instruction and identify areas for improvement.
  • Establish and maintain a positive and productive classroom environment that supports learning and fosters respect among students.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies to address behavioral issues and create a conducive learning atmosphere.
  • Ensure that students follow classroom rules and procedures and maintain a focus on their academic work.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students, including those with varying levels of mathematical proficiency, scientific proficiency, and special educational needs.
  • Provide additional support and resources to students who need extra help with math/science concepts and skills.
  • Develop individualized learning plans for students who require additional assistance.
  • Encourage student participation and engagement through interactive lessons, group activities, and real‑world problem‑solving tasks.
  • Motivate students to take an active interest in mathematics or science and pursue further study or careers in STEM fields.
  • Use technology and digital tools to enhance instruction and make learning more interactive.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with the latest educational practices, mathematical/scientific research, and teaching technologies.
  • Attend workshops, conferences, and training sessions to enhance teaching skills and subject knowledge.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to curriculum development.
  • Maintain clear and open communication with students, parents, and guardians regarding academic progress and any concerns.
  • Conduct parent‑teacher conferences to discuss student achievements, challenges, and development.
  • Provide regular updates on classroom activities, assignments, and assessments.
  • Prepare and submit necessary reports, grades, and documentation in a timely manner.
  • Organize and support extracurricular math activities, such as math clubs, competitions, or tutoring sessions;
    Support and mentor students in pursuing science‑related extracurricular activities and competitions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Pass applicable background check
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Science, or related field
  • North Carolina Teaching Certificate
