Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Head of School to support the leadership team in delivering an exceptional Montessori education to our students. The Assistant Head of School will work closely with the Head of School to oversee the day-to-day operations of the school, foster a positive learning environment, support faculty development, and ensure the implementation of Montessori principles and practices.
This position is ideal for a passionate individual with a strong Montessori background, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to student-centered education.
- Assist the Head of School in leading the administration and management of the school, ensuring that all academic and operational functions run smoothly.
- Support the development and implementation of the school’s mission, vision, and educational philosophy.
- Help lead and coordinate faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and training programs for Montessori educators.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to teaching staff, offering support for classroom management, curriculum development, and student assessments.
- Monitor the quality of the Montessori curriculum delivery across all classrooms, ensuring adherence to AMS/MACTE standards and best practices.
- Actively engage with parents and the community to promote the Montessori philosophy and maintain strong communication channels.
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive school culture that supports the social, emotional, and academic development of each child.
- Oversee day-to-day school operations, including school tours, student safety, and school events.
- Collaborate with the Head of School to review and refine school policies, ensuring they align with Montessori principles.
- Step in as Acting Head of School in the absence of the Head of School.
- MACTE-accredited Montessori training credential (Infant & Toddler, Early Childhood, or Elementary preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Montessori setting, with at least 1 year in a leadership or administrative role.
- Deep understanding of Montessori philosophy and pedagogy, and the ability to implement and uphold these principles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with staff, students, and parents.
- Proven ability to manage and resolve conflicts, while maintaining a calm, respectful, and supportive environment.
- Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
- A passion for Montessori education and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, child-centered learning environment.
- Experience in school leadership or administration.
- Knowledge of NC DCDEE state regulations and guidelines.
- Proficiency in school management software and tools.
