Overview

The Quality Specialist is a key member of the Custom Cylinders team, responsible for ensuring that all manufactured parts meet rigorous quality standards with minimal waste. Reporting to the Quality Manager, this role collaborates closely with the Design and Production Engineer to maintain and improve product quality and operational efficiency. The Quality Specialist will oversee the ongoing management of the company’s quality management system (QMS).

Responsibilities
  • Collaboration:

    Work in partnership with the Design and Production Engineer to review product designs, production processes, and finished parts, ensuring compliance with quality specifications and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Quality Assurance:
    Conduct inspections, audits, and tests on materials and finished products to verify adherence to internal and external quality standards.
  • Waste Reduction:
    Analyze production data and processes to identify sources of waste, recommend corrective actions, and help implement solutions that maximize efficiency and minimize scrap or rework.
  • Quality Management System (QMS):
    Manage and continually improve the QMS, ensuring documentation is up to date, procedures are followed, and compliance is maintained with relevant industry standards.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
    Prepare and maintain accurate records of quality activities, findings, and corrective actions. Provide clear reports to management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Training and Support:
    Support colleagues by delivering training on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
Required Qualifications
  • Associates’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in a quality assurance in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of quality control principles and methodologies
  • Experience with quality management systems (ISO 9001 or similar)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Experience with Microsoft tools (Word, Excel, etc.)
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma)
  • ISO 9001 auditor experience a strong plus
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools
  • Ability to train and mentor staff on quality processes
