Position Overview

The Maintenance Worker supports the mission of Saints Peter & Paul Catholic School and Parish by maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, parishioners, and visitors. This position involves daily cleaning, facility upkeep, light repairs, and general maintenance tasks throughout the school, church, and surrounding grounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily cleaning of classrooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, cafeteria, church, and common areas.
  • Maintain floors through sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, stripping, and waxing as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair work such as fixing leaks, replacing light bulbs, and minor plumbing, electrical, or carpentry tasks.
  • Set up and break down spaces for school and parish events, assemblies, and meetings.
  • Ensure grounds and entryways are clean, safe, and free from debris or snow.
  • Monitor building systems and report larger repair needs to the Building Manager or outside contractors.
  • Organize maintenance supplies and equipment; notify the Building Manager when stock needs replenishing.
  • Assist with deliveries, moving furniture, and other manual tasks as requested.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a secure facility.
Schedule & Compensation
  • Part-time, year-round position (29 hrs per week)
  • Schedule:

    2 pm-8 pm (Monday-Friday; occasional evenings/weekends for events)
  • $15-17 an hour
Qualifications
  • Experience in custodial, facilities, or general maintenance work preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and safely use hand and power tools.
  • Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform manual labor.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • Commitment to the values and mission of a Catholic parish and school environment.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
