OverviewUnder the general direction of the Administrative Director of EMS, the Regional EMS Manager manages and supervises the daily activities and operations of multiple EMS facilities and co‑workers in a regional area, supporting the goals, objectives and leadership principles of Mercy EMS.
Duties, functions and responsibilities include but are not limited to a wide range of tasks such as:
- Co‑worker supervision, scheduling, performance evaluations
- Vehicle maintenance, equipment maintenance, office files, statistical reports
- State trip tickets, petty cash, fuel purchases, supply inventory
- Community relations, training and continuing education
Perform direct patient care including assessment, evaluation, basic and advanced life support according to the protocols and policies of Mercy Health System. Regional EMS Managers respond in the field throughout the assigned region in support of co‑workers as needed. The incumbent of this position shall carry out his/her responsibility and integrate into his/her style of management the Mercy Philosophy of caring for the sick and injured, respect for human life, and the dignity of each person, applying Christian values to all crucial human issues in the area over which he/she has responsibility.
Performs related duties as assigned. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Any pattern of education which would provide an opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities required. Normally, graduation from an accredited four‑year college with major coursework in health care administration, public administration, management, nursing, emergency medical or disaster preparedness would provide such opportunity.
LicensureParamedic license in the state(s) of current practice. Valid driver’s license.
ExperienceFive (5) years experience in EMS with at least two (2) years service as an EMS Supervisor.
CertificationsParamedic license for the state(s) of current practice.
OtherKnowledge of current concepts, techniques and trends in emergency medical services. Working conditions, mental and physical requirements:
Must be able to quickly respond to vehicle, able to access patients in difficult terrain. Must be able to perform strenuous physical requirements such as CPR, lifting and moving equipment and patients in a variety of environmental conditions. Equipment used:
Ambulance and Operations Vehicle, cots, stair chair, heart monitor/defibrillator and a variety of EMS medical equipment including computers. Incumbents will be required to successfully satisfy the physical demands of the role. This will include a pre‑hire and annual fitness for duty test.
