Are you an organised, compassionate, and reliable individual with excellent communication skills? We are looking for a dedicated Ward Clerk to join our dynamic team in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (Ward 12) at the Great North Children’s Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in supporting the smooth operation of a fast‑paced, specialist clinical area, making a real difference to children and their families during critical times.
As our Ward Clerk, you will be the welcoming face and administrative backbone of the PICU. You will work closely with the nursing, medical, and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring accurate patient records, efficient communication, and a calm, supportive environment.

- 31 Hours/Week
- Shifts are Thursday and Friday, with alternative Sundays.
- Standard Hours 8:30‑4:30 but can be flexible to the service needs.

This is a key role within the team involving all aspects of administrative work from reception/telephone duties to preparation of patient documentation for admission/discharge, ensuring the smooth running of the service. As a valued member of the team, you will benefit from working in a supportive environment as part of wide multidisciplinary team.
What We Are Looking For- Previous administrative or reception experience (NHS or healthcare setting desirable but not essential)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
- Confident in using IT systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- A friendly, calm, and professional manner, especially in sensitive situations
