JOB TITLE: Bus Monitor - Special Needs (hours vary) for the  School Year

• Maintains orderly conduct of students
• Provide maximum safety for passengers while loading and unloading of students
• Must walk to back of bus after completion of each route to ensure no student is left on bus
• Report any hazardous situations along the route to the appropriate Transportation Department official
• Communicate with students, parents, community, and school officials in an appropriate manner
• Assist the driver in conducting emergency evacuation drills as required
• Sweep and clean inside of bus daily
• Attend all Transportation meetings as required
• Adhere to all appropriate drug and alcohol test as required if CDL licensed
• Turn in all paperwork associated with the job as required
• Report the issuance of any traffic citation or loss of driver's license immediately to Transportation
• Follows all federal, state, and local policies and laws in execution of duties
• Maintains prompt and regular attendance
• Performs other duties as assigned as related to areas of direct report

• Must have acceptable criminal background and fingerprint check
• Driving record must not contain any citations for driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol
• Ability to work well with students, parents and school staff

SKILLS: Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations (as needed), in vision and communication. Ability to work without constant direction. Manifests emotional stability and maturity in all phases of job performance. Adheres to legal statutes, organizational rules, and community standards. Uses time efficiently. Ability to work well with students, parents, and school staff. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, stoop and/or kneel.

Must be able to push, pull, and/or reach overhead. Must be able to lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
