The Special Needs Bus Monitor maintains orderly conduct of students, ensures maximum safety during loading and unloading, and monitors student exit at the end of routes. Responsibilities include maintaining safety, reporting hazards, assisting in emergency drills, cleaning the bus, and adhering to all applicable drug, alcohol, and legal requirements.
Responsibilities- Maintains orderly conduct of students
- Provides maximum safety for passengers while loading and unloading students
- Monitors bus at the end of routes to ensure all students have exited the vehicle
- Reports any hazardous situations along the route
- Assists the driver in conducting emergency evacuation drills as required
- Sweeps and cleans the inside of the bus daily
- Attends meetings as required
- Adheres to all appropriate drug and alcohol tests
- Follows all federal, state, and local police and laws in execution of duties
- Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or principal
Must have an acceptable criminal background and fingerprint check.

- Adheres to legal statutes, organizational rules, and community standards
- Uses time efficiently
- Ability to work well with students, parents, and school staff
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, and/or kneel
- Must be able to push, pull, and/or reach overhead
- Must be able to lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds
