The Children s Ministry Director s role is to develop and provide spiritual, relational, and organizational leadership, and work with our Christian Education Program for Children, which can include the weekly Sunday School program for children/youth, Children’s Church, and other special programming such as Vacation Bible School, Christmas programs, and other special events that may occur. The Children s Ministry Director shall seek to foster a strong education program through building relationships with teachers, students, parents, and church leaders that strengthen the students’ commitment to the church and growth in faith in Jesus Christ.

Duties
  • Implement a Christian Education program for Children using Safe Sanctuary principals and guidelines.
  • Work with the church to recruit, train, and supervise teachers, leaders, and other required volunteers to meet the needs of the program.
  • Develop children in their Christian spiritual and social development by instructing and training children to understand and implement faith into their lives.
  • Personally communicate educational program news frequently with the Pastor and the congregation.
  • Participate in the preparation and development of the budget
  • Communicate and publish all activities through newsletters, bulletins, and church calendar and social media as needed.
  • Participate with other Christian ministry professionals in the community and NGUMC area as opportunities arise that fit within the church’s purpose and ministry vision.
  • Encourage and coordinate outreach opportunities and summer programs for Children as appropriate.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Computer skills:
    All Microsoft products and ability to navigate a church database
  • Excellent relational skills
  • A strong Christian faith (United Methodist experience a plus)
  • 3-5 years work experience
