Position Summary The Divisional Behavioral Health Director serves as the behavioral health expert for the division, supporting Director of Social Services, Deputy Director of Social Services and each Divisional Social Services Director with guidance and oversight on program activities and services. This role provides clinical oversight for programs that include clinical services (substance use/mental health), supports compliance and program reviews, leads divisional trainings, and offers as‑needed clinical supervision for specialty programs and clinical interns.

The Divisional Behavioral Health Director reports to the Divisional Deputy Director of Social Services and is responsible for advancing evidence‑based practices, supporting program development, and supporting oversight of Medi‑Cal/CalAIM/Medicaid billable services. The Behavioral Health Director will provide group and individual training, consultation, data integrity checks and resolutions, and analysis of training needs. They will also support the implementation of state‑wide initiatives, including outcome measurement strategies and reporting.

Pay Range $100,000/yr.

- $125,000/yr.

Essential Functions

  • Provide clinical oversight and consultation for divisional programs offering behavioral health services (mental health and/or SUD).
  • Support Divisional Social Services Directors in program activities, service delivery, development, and strategic planning.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and funder requirements, including Medi‑Cal, CalAIM, and Medicaid billing standards.
  • Lead and coordinate divisional trainings on behavioral health best practices, compliance, and evidence‑based interventions.
  • Provide group and individual training, user consultation, crisis intervention support, and analysis of training needs for staff and program leaders.
  • Conduct regular service and data integrity checks to ensure accuracy, compliance, and quality of clinical service delivery and documentation.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on clinical outcomes for behavioral health programs, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and continuous improvement in service effectiveness.
  • Assist Divisional Social Services team with admin related duties as needed.
  • Support the implementation of state‑wide initiatives, including outcome measurement strategies for all social service programs.
  • Conduct program reviews and quality assurance processes to maintain high standards of care.
  • Offer clinical supervision for specialty programs and/or clinical interns, ensuring adherence to licensure requirements.
  • Assist with program development and strategic planning for behavioral health services.
  • Maintain knowledge of community mental health and substance use resources for referral and collaboration.
  • Host regular meetings with program leadership to address clinical issues and promote person‑centered care.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen behavioral health service delivery.
  • Ensure all clinical services are provided by appropriately licensed professionals.
  • May require occasional evenings, weekends, and travel within the division.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions Must be able to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Must be able to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Must be able to lift to 25 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Professional Clinical Counseling, or Clinical Psychology.
