We are seeking a part-time Sr Avionics Systems Engineer to join our team in Long Beach, CA. The role involves applying engineering knowledge, principles, tools, and techniques to enhance and upgrade the C-17 Globe master III aircraft. This is a 12-month contract with the potential for extension.

• Rapidly integrate into the team and apply an interdisciplinary approach to the analysis, design, development, system-level test/verification, and validation of the C-17 Flight Management System (FMS) and other Avionics Systems.
• Develop new capabilities for the C-17 using job principles, theories, and concepts.
• Focus primarily on the Flight Management System, responsible for flight planning, navigation guidance, control display, and automation of the aircraft.
• Leverage excellent technical and communication skills while being aware of business constraints.

• Proficiency in Flight Management System (FMS).
• 8+ years of full-time aerospace experience in aircraft, avionics, flight controls, propulsion/engine controls, and/or other aircraft electronics.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Experience in leading systems/software development programs.

• 10 years of full-time aerospace experience in aircraft, avionics, flight controls, propulsion/engine controls, and/or other aircraft systems.
• Familiarity with Agile and Continuous Delivery Method (CDM) processes.
• Military/Commercial Aircrew experience, Private Pilot License, or Flight Instructor certification.
• Capability to lead geographically diverse teams to support C-17 upgrades, improvements, and sustainment.

The position is hybrid, requiring on-site presence 2 days a week. Regular and predictable attendance is essential. The role demands approximately 20 hours of work per week.

This is a Contract position based out of Long Beach, CA.

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $98.00/hr.
