The Audio Engineering Degree Program in the Digital Media Arts Department at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), invites highly qualified, motivated, and well-organized applicants for a pool of part‑time teaching appointments.

The B.A. in Audio Engineering in the Digital Media Arts Department at CSUDH is a hands‑on, professionally oriented program geared for students who want marketable job skills for careers in studio recording, music technology, live sound reinforcement, and sound design for television, film, and live theatre. Students track, mix, and master their own audio projects for multi‑track studio albums, EPK’s, live performance recordings, television documentaries, public service announcements (PSA’s), instructional films, and a variety of client‑based projects for nonprofit organizations, community groups, and corporate partners.
The temporary nurse faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid‑December; the Spring term begins mid‑January and ends in mid‑May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.
Responsibilities- Teach a diverse student population of first‑generation college students with one hour of required office hours each week for every three credit units of course teaching assignment.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Audio, Sound Design, Music Technology, or Media Arts
- Appropriate experience related to the subject of the course(s) assigned.
- Applicants must have experience in teaching adult learners from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching.
- A Master’s degree or MFA in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.
- Experience teaching online
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
