Graphics Designer - Associated Students, Inc.

The Associated Students, Inc. is the official student voice of California State University, Dominguez Hills. ASI is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profits corporation that serves as the auxiliary of the CSU Dominguez Hills student government with approximately 15,000 students.

As the student government organization, ASI represents the concerns of the student body and provides programs and services to students through membership representation on university committees.

Position Description

The Graphics Designer is responsible for creating and coordinating all visual aspects of advertising and promotion for the Associated Students, Inc., and for developing and maintaining the ASI website. The designer will develop promotional ideas and complete publicity requests.

Skills and Requirements
  • Willingness to work with an ethnically diverse and culturally pluralistic student body and staff.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and complete assigned work duties and handle a wide variety of tasks at one time.
  • Ability to develop and coordinate all visual aspects of advertising and promotion.
  • Ability to perform color separations and digital photo editing.
  • Knowledge of layout, paste-up and typesetting.
  • Knowledge of website design, implementation and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of HTML and Word Press.
  • Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Experience with graphic design and layout.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and create all artwork for ad/promo campaigns.
  • Coordinate layout and paste-up for ad/promo campaigns.
  • Oversee typesetting of copy for ad/promo campaigns.
  • Develop and create artwork for flyers and advertisements.
  • Consult with the Program Coordinator to develop ad/promo packages as requested.
  • Develop and maintain the ASI website and all affiliated websites.
  • Attend ad/promo meetings.
  • Perform clerical support of office staff and ASI officers, and act as front desk clerk to answer phones and forward messages, type letters and memos.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Conditions of Employment

Responsible to the ASI Marketing & Public Relations Coordinator.

Rate: $17.28 per hour.

Workweek Class:
Non-Exempt.

Classification:
Student Employee Level II.

Work Schedule:

Up to 20 hours per week, contingent upon operation need, academic scheduling, etc.
