This is a full-time, FLSA non-exempt position with Carson City Public Works. Under general direction, plans, assigns, and oversees the work of skilled and semi-skilled staff performing construction, maintenance and repair work for the sewer collection systems.
Salary RangeEmployer-Paid PERS: $35.9099 - $50.2740 hourly / $74,692.54 - $ annually
Employee/Employer-Paid PERS: $43.3213 - $60.6499 hourly / $90,108.20 - $ annually

- Plans, organizes, assigns, and oversees the work of assigned staff.
- Recommends selection of staff; trains staff and provides for their professional development; administers discipline as required.
- Assists in developing and implementing goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for sewer systems activities.
- Performs skilled sewer systems work in the designated area of expertise, troubleshoots sewer systems problems and provides technical advice to staff.
- Estimates equipment, materials and staff required to perform assigned work.
- Requisition s supplies and equipment and maintains an inventory of regularly used materials.
- Assists in preparation of annual budget for assigned work area.
- Prepares, issues, prioritizes and tracks facility and equipment maintenance and repair work orders.
- Maintains accurate records of work performed; interprets blueprints, specifications, manuals and related documentation.
- Responds to and resolves sewer systems inquiries and complaints.
- Inspects the work and ensures quality and conformance to specifications of both City crews and contract staff.
- Prepares a variety of written correspondence and periodic and special reports regarding work performed.
- Ensures that staff follows safety procedures and that public safety and security procedures are followed.
- Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a team.
- Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work; drives a motor vehicle to conduct work site inspections.
- Reads diagrams, blueprints, specifications and manuals for installation and repair projects.
- Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.
